This Mustang has a family history. My grandfather, at age 65, bought it in 1965 when he retired. It was a basic
6 cylinder - three speed car. Used as a daily driver, until he passed away, it then was passed on to me. Being a
Michigan car it was in need of some body patching and restoration. My son and I then proceeded to make the much
needed repairs. After the body was cleaned up we then made the decision to take a slightly different direction
and create a 60's style mild custom.
My sons' input evolved into the flamed theme. We started with designing a set of blue flamed laker covers. That
brought a flamed shift knob from a new company at the time, Flameball, into play. And soon after the subtle
flamed pinstriping was contributed by M. K. Johns of Kansas C ity.
The restoration project sequence was actually driven by a bet. My son, who knows me pretty well, bet me that we
couldn't finish it in 30 days. I lost .... it took 32 days! After being completed it has subsequently been in
many shows locally and around the country. Other than the usual routine service it is doing very well.
