BOB'S GARAGE

Project Inspiration

I like that

These are other like bodied 52 -54 Fords and others that are examples of things I like in the cars.

The black 54 Merc is from the Woodward Dream Cruise 08 It was parked a couple of block off the main Ferndale show in the BeCool display area. It caught my eye as we were walking by and the suede paint with pinstripes, lake pipes and the white top are in line with my own ideas. Another example of the emergence of the Rat Rod.

The peach colored 54 Ford Skyliner is from Autorama. Another Rat Rod work in progress. The coolest part of this car is the factory see- thru roof section on this Ford model. It sits right has similar body mods to mine. The shaved hood, emblems and door handles. The two tone paint, top and body, are a nice pairing. The trim is all stock. The skinny stainless visor is also a factory Ford offering on that year. I like the clean lines. Add in the frenched headlights, wide whites, 54 Merc rear fender trim are true traditional. Slick and nicely done.

While we were hanging out at the corner of Woodward and 13 Mile at the WDC2010 this 54 Chevy caught my eye. Sits right, clean, red wheels and scallops too. Turns out to be a Cali car. Dead on and right up my alley. I was impressed and ended up talking with the owner for a bit. Other than an airbag system and altered drive tunnel it was pretty conventional. Well done!

I came across this on on the web. Shaved, moulded and lowered. One feature that caught my eye pretty quick was the inverted bumper. A very subtle neat 50's trick that gets by most observers.

This purple two-tone Merc was found on the web. Slick and low. Lakers and the two-tone paint is excellent combo. Laid out on the ground really sets this one off. I like it.

Simple is good ... but with a little pinstriping punch to really make it an eye catcher. This 54 has some way kool pinstipes laid on that work the body lines well.

This is another web find. All I have to say about this one is "Oh my!" From all indications it is a 54 Merc. The top is a question but still excellent. The de-scooped hood and side trim are definitely Merc. This bad boy is nothing short of spectacular.
