INSTALLATION - All Engines

  1. Prime the oil pump by filling the inlet on outlet ports with engine oil and rotating the shaft of the pump to distribute it.
  2. Position the intermediate driveshaft into the distributor socket.
  3. Position a new gasket on the pump body and insert the intermediate driveshaft into the pump body.
  4. Install the pump and intermediate shaft as an assembly.

Do not force pump if it does not seat readily. The driveshaft may be misaligned with the distributor shaft. To align, rotate the intermediate driveshaft into a new position.
  5. Install and torque the oil pump attaching screws to 12-15 ft. lbs. on six-cylinder engines, 20-25 ft. lbs. on V8s.
  6. Install the oil pan.
